PML-N is all set to kick off its election campaign for the upcoming polls at the launching of Metro Bus Service (MBS) on February 10 which is going to be a mega political event displaying party’s strength in the metropolis where a number of foreign dignitaries are also expected to turn-up.
PML-N is turning the launching ceremony of its much-hyped Metro Bus Service into a memorable mega political event in which they would exhibit their political strength amidst the presence of hefty security involving around 6,000 police personnel.
In Wednesday’s meeting, sources said that, CM had formed a committee in the chair of Hamza Shahbaz Sharif which has been given the task of preparing lists of VVIPs including foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, members of the civil society involving retired bureaucrats, former military and judicial bigwigs, renowned lawyers, intellectuals, PML-N senators, MPs, provincial ministers and bureaucrats and top brass of key allies.
Sources who attended Wednesday’s meeting said that the lists would be presented to CM on Sunday Feb 3. Sources further said that PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif is likely to be the chief guest of this mega event who would lead the cavalcade of almost 45 buses carrying guests and would travel from the starting point of Gajjumata to the concluding point Shahdara after covering 27-km long distance on MBS.
Punjab Police have made hefty security arrangements for the formal launching ceremony of Metro Bus Service with PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif as its chief guest.
It is learnt that around 6,000 security personnel will be deployed to provide security cover to 27-km long MBS route. Besides, police officials have also decided to depute sharp shooters and snipers at the top of all buildings standing both sides of MBS route and at various stations of MBS to avoid any untoward incident. Insiders claimed that police officials have drawn out a comprehensive security strategy for the launching ceremony of this mega project of the PML-N government. A senior police official claimed that the ceremony is expected to be attended by PML-N top brass including its bigwigs from other provinces as well. They claimed that PML-N leadership had already extended invitations to the PML-N bigwigs as they wanted to arrange this mega event in a befitting manner with the objective of en-cashing it politically.
Sources said that mega ceremony will be held at Gajjumata from where PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif along with Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, provincial ministers, MPs, senators and key party office-bearers in a cavalcade riding on metro buses would travel to the final destination towards Shahdara. The concluding ceremony would be held at the final destination Shahdara. Sources claimed that PML-N Chief was also expected to address gatherings at 27 points of the MBS to make this journey more memorable. He further said that they had lined up the security in different categories including personnel which would provide security cover only to the VVIPs. There would be another layer of cops who would be responsible to maintain overall law and order situation around the MBS. He said that anti-riot force equipped with tear gas shells and rubber bullets will also be deployed at various points to avert any untoward incident.
Talking to The News SP Security, Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani said that all available resources will be used to provide foolproof security at the inaugural ceremony. To a question, he said that a comprehensive plan has been made involving other stakeholders including City Traffic Police, Rescue 1122, etc to meet any untoward incident.
When contacted, DG Rescue 1122 Rizwan Naseer said that rescue officials will be there for every kind of emergency service on that day.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Captain (r) Sohail Ch, while talking on the issue said that city traffic police will put no stone unturned for smooth flow of traffic on the inaugural day of MBS.
Meanwhile, Punjab chief minister has said that metro bus project which is the most splendid project in the transport history of the country is being completed with a missionary zeal and Insha’Allah, this marvelous public-welfare project would be inaugurated on February 10.
