Factory Area police, after registering a case under different charges against more than 300 protesters, who were chanting slogans against Wapda officials, arrested three of them on Friday.
Around 300 people of Ghaziabad area blocked the Ghaziabad road and chanted slogans against Wapda officials for carrying out unprecedented load shedding for hours. They also burnt tyres to press their demand. A heavy contingent of police, armed with sticks and other weaponry, reached the spot after being informed about the protest.
The police tried to pacify the angry protesters but to no avail. The protesters attacked on the police. They tore their uniforms besides breaking windowpanes of police vehicles by pelting stones on them. Seven police officials received injuries. They retaliated and baton charged the protesters. Resultantly, some of the protesters received injuries.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where they were said to be out of danger.
The police registered a case under different charges, including terrorism act, against protesters and arrested three of them.

Naveed Bhatti, a serving sub-inspector of Lowe Mall Police, was shot dead allegedly by his rivals near Usman Chowk, Datanagar Pull, on Tuesday.
The police concerned had registered a case against Zeeshan, Bilal, Shahbaz and Tanveer but failed to nab any of the accused. Talking with The News, the investigation officer said that no one had been arrested so far. He said raids were being conducted to nab the accused who would soon be in police clutches.
HT member arrested: The Mustafa Town Police arrested an activist of a banned organization when he was distributing prohibited literature on Friday.
Police said that the accused, identified as Mohammad Ali, was distributing prohibited literature in the premises of the police station. Police have registered a case against the accused who belongs to a banned outfit, Hizb-ut-Tehrir. Investigation into the matter is underway, police said.
