ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf has joined the Facebook, a social networking website, to connect with Pakistani youth, asking the young members of the cyber community to reach out to all their friends and those whom they know to join the community.
In the personal information on his Facebook page launched about a month ago, Gen (retd) Musharraf posted that since quitting as the president of Pakis-tan he is keeping himself
busy with a global lecture series.
“I have found this to be a stimulating experience as I get an opportunity to share my thoughts with audiences of different nationalities having diverse backgrounds... Besides lectures, I find time to meet well wishers and friends. After many years of a regimented daily routine, I am able to spend quality time with my family. I also find time to play golf, tennis and bridge,” he says.
The former president, who has won 26,199 fans among the Facebook members in a short span of one month, has posted a video message on his main page to welcome the viewers and explain as to why he joined the cyber community, how to connect with him and expansion of the community of his fans. He says he is extremely encouraged by the very positive, enthusiastic response he has received.
