Stifling criticism

This letter refers to the news report ‘JAC to move court against Punjab defamation bill’ (May 22, 2024). The subheading of this report claims that the Joint Action Committee said that the Punjab government had totally ignored recommendations proposed by the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA). It is bad enough that the public has to bear the brunt of major scandals which keep surfacing like clockwork. However, seemingly depriving people even of the right to express their displeasure over their losses seems to be a bit too much.
