MIRAMSHAH: Five persons were killed in two US drone attacks in the Dattakhel area in North Waziristan tribal region on Monday.

There were conflicting reports about the two missile strikes and the casualties that resulted. Tribal sources said the drone first fired two missiles as it pounded a house in Mohammadkhel village in Dattakhel and killed two persons in the mud-house.

About five minutes later, the drone fired two more missiles and struck a car in Deegan village, sited at two kilometres distance from Mohammadkhel. Local villagers said three people in the car were killed on the spot while other sources said the unmanned aerial vehicle fired two missiles and hit a house.

A few minutes before the attack, sources said, a car had left the house and was traveling on the Mohammadkhel-Deegan road when it came under attack. The drone fired two missiles and struck the car. Four people were killed on the spot while another one was seriously injured. The injured was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
