PESHAWAR: A senior Taliban commander Halimullah was among the four people killed in the September 30 drone attack at Birmal area of South Waziristan tribal region, Taliban sources said.

The sources said that Commander Halimullah was an important leader of Maulvi Nazeer-led Taliban militants and termed his death as ‘huge loss’ for the Ahmadzai Wazir militants operating in South Waziristan.

Halimullah, the Taliban sources said, belonged to Tujikhel sub-tribe of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe and led a big group of 300 armed fighters. He reportedly went to Musa Neeka area near the Afghan border to settle dispute between local tribesmen there. “He was holding a meeting with some people to resolve a local dispute when came under the drone attack,” a close aide to the slain militant commander said.
