Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), the alma mater of Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is celebrating its 127th Foundation Day on Saturday (today).

 

The SMIU has organised a grand programme at the Governor House in the evening, where the prominent figures of various walks of life will address the gathering.

 

President Asif Ali Zardari and the great grandson of the founder of Sindh Madressatul Islam, Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi has sent his message, in which he while lauding the contribution of this historic institution towards Muslim education in the subcontinent has congratulated the Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, the management, faculty, students and all past and present alumni of the SMIU on the 127th Foundation Day of this great institution.

 

The president has further said, “This indeed is a special day in the journey of this illustrious institution on the road to progress and accomplishment. In the course of this journey it produced some of the greatest luminaries who helped shape the destiny of the people of our region”.

 

It can be rightly proud of being the alma mater of leaders of the calibre of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, Sir Abdullah Haroon, Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, Allama I.I. Kazi, to name only a few. Indeed the nation owes a debt of gratitude to the SMIU.

 

President Zardari paid homage to the founder of this institution, Effendi for his far-sightedness and determination. Sindh governor and chief minister have also sent their messages.
