The right choice
This letter refers to the news report ‘Aurangzeb rules out tax amnesty’ (April 23, 2024). Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has outlined an ambitious agenda item for the next few months based on his recent discussions in Dubai. He reportedly claimed that our forex reserves will be around $9-$10 billion by June and PIA will be privatized by July. In addition, talks are ongoing with Turkey and Europe for the privatization of Islamabad Airport, while Lahore and Karachi Airports will also be privatized. The finance minister further elaborated that the World Bank is ready to support the development of the Digital Pakistan project for the next 10 years.
Hat’s off to this present regime for appointing Muhammad Aurangzeb as the finance minister; an absolutely correct choice if I may say so. I am sure he will exceed our expectations and this country shall finally begin to be taken seriously by the world on the economic, investment, and digital fronts.
