LAHORE

The food street is all set to be inaugurated on the Fort Road on Saturday (today). Playing its part, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has joined hands to revive the food street’s unmatched beauty and heritage of Lahore by providing adequate wastage equipments to the new food street management for the purpose of ensuring a clean food street.

The LWMC has permanently endowed the food street administration with 16 dustbins (drum bins) along with garbage bags that would serve as sufficient wastage disposal method on a daily basis. Moreover, eight sanitary workers have been permanently designated as food street workforce to deliver satisfactory cleanliness throughout the day. The workforce has been divided into two shifts, i.e. from 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am to ensure cleanliness round the clock. Two supervisors have also been provided to keep a check on the sanitary crew and to monitor if they were working properly and all the waste related complaints were being handled and solved in time.

The LWMC has also taken the responsibility for the washing of the Food Street thrice a week so that the beauty of our heritage can be maintained. Moreover four handcarts have been provided so that all waste is removed on daily basis and we can provide a clean and waste free environment to all the people visiting the new food street. All in all, the new food street will be inaugurated with the aim that people can enjoy sumptuous food as well as healthy and clean surroundings.
