1,178 degrees conferred on students at SSUET’s 27th convocation
Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) celebrated its 27th convocation, where one PhD, 1,117 Bachelor’s and 60 Master’s degrees were conferred on students.
The ceremony also saw the recognition of students with gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with merit certificates for their exceptional academic achievements.
Addressing the convocation, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori praised SSUET as an ideological academic institute, highlighting its significant role in national development and its contribution to producing a skilled workforce for the global arena. He emphasised the university’s role as a catalyst for social change and progress.
Furthermore, the governor announced a plan to provide non-refundable loans ranging from Rs100,000 to Rs10 million to youth with innovative business ideas, aiming to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation. Chancellor SSUET Jawaid Anwar commended the institution’s performance, noting the continued enrollment of students even during periods of economic recession. He emphasised the importance of technology and entrepreneurship, stating that graduates are increasingly focusing on new ideas and business ventures, contributing to economic growth and innovation.
Anwar highlighted the significance of digital technology in the 21st century, noting its transformative impact on societies. He observed a shift in student preferences towards software-based digital applications, reflecting changing trends in education and technology.
Vice Chancellor of SSUET, Professor Dr Vali Uddin, highlighted the university’s growth, with 16 academic departments offering various programs to over 7,000 students. He also noted the significant contribution of the faculty, with 64 members holding PhDs, in providing quality education and research opportunities to students.
