ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Fakhar Zaman has announced Pas-i-Zindan Award for a book written by former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
The book was declared the best written work during the four periods of martial law in Pakistan. According to the judges, the best book was that of Shaheed ZA Bhutto’s “If I Am Assassinated”.
The judges comprised writers including Dr Muhammad Ali Siddiqui, Prof Khawaja Masood, Dr Mehdi Hasan, IA Rehman, Siraj-ul-Haq Memon, Saleem Raz, Dr Shah M Mari, Altaf Ahmed Qureshi, and Rahat Saeed. The prize money is Rs 100,000.
Judges have specially chosen this book. Besides, Yousuf Raza Gilani’s book “Chah-e-Yousaf Se Sada”, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi’s book “Takhta-i-Dar Kay Sai Talay”, Tariq Khursheed’s book “Soey-Dar — Kia Main Dehshet Gard Tha”, Hameed Akhtar’s book “Kal Kothri” and Zafar-ullah-Poshni’s “Zindagi Zindan Dili Ka Naam Hai” have also been awarded.
