GOVERNOR Punjab Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mahmood has said glory and dignity of Aitchison College will be restored at any cost and no compromise will be made vis-à-vis admissions, appointment of faculty and standard of education.

 

He said this at the first informal meeting of new members of Aitchison College’s Board of Governors (BoG) at Governor House here on Saturday.

 

It was suggested at the meeting that an endowment fund should be established with the help of all old Aitchisonians to support the deserving students. The meeting also decided that attendance of the students should be ensured completely besides ban on smoking and ban on use of mobile phones in classrooms.

 

The meeting also decided up-gradation of academic standard in the college at a par with the acclaimed international institution. It was decided that all admissions should be on merit and any violation in this regard would not be tolerated. It was also decided that appointment of faculty would be publicised through transparent method. It is the duty of the faculty to teach the students the basic etiquettes which are the foundation of real gentlemen. The meeting was attended by Aitchison College’s Principal Shamim Saifullah Khan, Vice Principal Iftikhar Ahmed Malik and members Syed Babar Ali, Sardar Yar Muhammad Jamali, Justice Yahya Afridi, Yawar Badar, Secretary Higher Education Ijaz Munir, Secretary Finance Tariq Bajwa, Brig Mujahid Hussain, Acting GOC 10 Div and Major General Sahibzada Isfandiyar Pataudi.
