| ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, the younger brother of PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, has left for Brussels to organise pro-Musharraf rallies there, sources close to him confirmed on Monday. Wajahat would later proceed to Paris and then to London on the same mission, these circles said. Although the party's secretary information denies the report of his proceeding abroad, a highly credible source close to Wajahat told The News that he left on January 18, two days before President Musharraf left home, for Brussels. According to the source, Wajahat would move ahead to Paris and then to London for organising pro-Musharraf rallies there as well. Although Wajahat has been performing this task in the past as well when his party was in power, his departure at this point in time when the PML-Q is contesting polls has surprised many. Wajahat is PML-Q candidate from NA-104. According to a party source, Wajahat, commonly known in Gujrat as 'Commander Wajahat', has proceeded with a mission not only to organise rallies and gatherings to be addressed by President Musharraf but also counter anti-Musharraf rallies being planned there. Wajahat commands considerable influence in Europe due to the large presence of Pakistanis overseas, specially belonging to Gujrat and Kharian. Scandinavian countries, France, Germany and Spain are considered the stronghold of Gujratis in the context of overseas Pakistani community. |
