Deputy Dar

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s notification as deputy PM is being hotly debated in the media. Some are arguing that, in the absence of any constitutional provision to the contrary, the federal government has simply relied on past precedents. The critics do not however see eye-to-eye on these arrangements and hold the view that the coalition government should have considered the matter in the federal cabinet before making a decision.
I would suggest that the federal government move for an amendment in the constitution to provide for the slot of deputy PM along with his/her role and responsibilities. Once such an amendment is made, any criticism on the subject could be avoided for all the times to come.
