Karachi

Lyari-based gangster Amin Buledi, who was arrested in Lahore by an intelligence agency and handed over to the Punjab Police, has been shifted to Karachi and given into the custody of the city police.

Buledi and two of his accomplices, identified as Zubair and Wajid, were arrested on Monday from a hotel on Lahore’s Mall Road.

They were reportedly staying with a female provincial assembly member from Lyari who had accompanied the gangsters from Karachi to Lahore.

Special Investigation Cell South in-charge Zahid Hussain claimed that only Buledi was brought back to Karachi.

He said Buledi was being interrogated about his crimes and accomplices still at large, adding that the gangster was wanted by the Kalakot, Kalri, Baghdadi, Kharadar, Mithadar, Napier, Docks, Darakhshan and other police stations in over 27 cases of extortion, kidnapping, murder and other crimes.

A Lyari police official said Buledi was among the topmost gangsters and wanted criminals from Lyari, who had made hundreds of millions of rupees through extortion and was also involved in dozens of killings.

The official said Buledi was also a cousin of Inspector Yousuf Baloch, a former station house officer of a police station in Lyari.

Baloch himself is in police custody for his involvement in the killing of notorious gangster Arshad Pappu and his brother in Lyari a few months ago.
