Protest as accused dies in police custody

GUJRANWALA: People staged a demonstration after a theft accused died in Cantonment police custody here on Thursday.
Police had arrested 42-year-old Liaqat Masih of Kalaskay in a theft case about 15 days ago. On the day of the incident, police informed Liaqat’s family that he died of a heart attack.
Meanwhile, relatives of Liaqat staged a demonstration outside the CPO Office and accused the police of torturing him to death during investigation. They have demanded the police high-pus probe the matter.
TRAIN KILLS MAN: A man was crushed to death by a train near Kangniwala.
The unidentified man was crossing a railway line when the train crushed him to death. The body was shifted to the DHQ Hospital.
PROTEST: The Gepco employees staged a demonstration against the murder of XEN Mazhar Iqbal. They also locked the offices to register their protest. Meanwhile, the Gepco employees offered funeral prayers in absentia. The XEN was gunned down by unidentified persons on Tuesday.
