PFA takes action against 24,000 food points

LAHORE:Punjab Food Authority (PFA) checked 249,513 food outlets in the first six months of the year and action was taken against more than 24,000 food points across the province.
The half yearly performance report of the PFA operation wing was released here on Monday. It said that 1,570 food points were sealed while 21,976 were fined and production of 458 items was banned.
The food authority DG said cases were registered against 98 food points for adulteration. Dairy safety teams destroyed 47,432 litres of adulterated milk across the province. Around 19,222-kg unhealthy meat and 6,918 litres of defective water was destroyed. Around 37,119-kg mixed spices, 47,444-kg ghee and 3,314-kg pulses were destroyed over various contaminations.
