CDA involves citizens in clean and green Islamabad task

Islamabad : Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed has called for increased participation of citizens in tree plantation campaigns in the spirit of ' Clean and Green' Islamabad.

A meeting of the ‘Clean and Green Islamabad’ board chaired by CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed was held at CDA Headquarters. Shafaq Hashmi administrator MCI, renowned jurist and lawyer, Riaz Hanif Rahi, representatives of Horticulture Society Islamabad, representatives of the Ministry of Climate Change, DG Environment CDA, and Regional Director Environment attended the meeting and gave a briefing to the CDA chairman.

The CDA chairman while issuing instructions said that in order to make the Federal Capital more beautiful and attractive, the same type of trees and plants should be planted on every highway, intersection, roadside slopes, green belts so that it has its own identity.

He told the participants to introduce modern techniques for tree plantations and ensure monitoring. He further instructed to plant beautiful trees along the drains. The CDA chairman also issued orders to set up a portal to involve the citizens in tree planting matters and ensure full participation of the citizens. In addition, the CDA Chairman also issued orders to conduct a survey of vacant lands in Islamabad so that tree planting can be done there.

The CDA chairman further directed that STP water be used for horticulture, and a public campaign be organized every Friday at F-Nine Park for plant care and awareness. In this regard, the CDA chairman issued instructions to formalise TORs of the Board and to reconstitute the existing committee to involve citizens directly in it.
