More rain forecast

LAHORE: Partly cloudy weather with scattered rain was witnessed in the City here Wednesday while the Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said that strong monsoon currents from Bay of Bengal were penetrating in upper and lower areas while a shallow westerly wave was also present over upper parts of the country.

They predicted that more rain-wind/thundershower was expected in Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan and Sindh while heavy falls were also expected in South Punjab, lower Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh and northeast Balochistan at scattered places.

Rainfall was recorded in several cities, including Mangla 99, Chakwal 86, Sargodha 57, Joharabad 52, Mandi Bahauddin 51, Jhelum 43, Layyah 41, Bhakkar 36, Kot Addu 28, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 16, Shamsabad 08), Gujrat 14, Attock 12, Islamabad (Golra 09, Saidpur 06, AP, ZP 04, Bokra 01), Murree 08, Narowal, Jhang 07, Noorpur Thal 05, Sialkot 04, Kotli 35, Rawalakot 16, Garhi Dupatta 11, DI Khan (AP 23, City 15), Parachinar 10, Kalam 08, Saidu Sharif 07, Kakul 05, Lower Dir, Takht Bai 04, Turbat 18, Bagrote 08, Thatta 06 and Chhor 04.

Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Nokkundi where mercury reached 46°C while in Lahore, it was 35.5°C and minimum was 24.5°C.
