First monsoon rain likely in Lahore
LAHORE: Hot and humid weather was recorded in the City on Friday while Met office predicted that the city may witness the first monsoon rain during the next 24 hours.
Met officials said monsoon currents were penetrating upper and central parts of the country and likely to continue during next two to three days. They said a weak shallow westerly wave was affecting northern parts of the country.
They predicted that thunderstorm was expected in upper/central Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Pothohar Region while hot and dry weather was likely to prevail over other parts and very hot in plain areas of the country.
Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Jhelum, Garhi Dupatta, Hunza, Babusar, Bagrote, Upper Dir and Zhob. Friday's maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi and Turbat where mercury reached 48°C while in Lahore, it was 41.4°C.
