Providing relief to farmers top priority of govt, says PM

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam met Prime Minister Imran Khan, says a Prime Minister Office statement.

The meeting discussed the record production of all crops this year and strategies for future crops. The meeting also decided to hold a farmers' convention in Islamabad on July 1. The prime minister said that providing relief to the farmers was one of the top priorities of the government and also to bringing reforms in the agricultural sector through a comprehensive strategy.

Meanwhile, MNA Nawabzada Shah Zain Bugti called on PM Imran Khan here. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar and Defence Minister Pervez Khattak. The meeting discussed the ongoing development projects under the prime minister's vision of focusing on Balochistan, the historic Balochistan package of the present government and measures for the socio-economic development of the people of Balochistan.

Separately, Members of National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa met Prime Minister Imran Khan, others present on the occasion were Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Defence Malik Anwar Taj, Members of National Assembly Imran Khattak, Junaid Akbar, Shaukat Ali, Saleem Rehman, Arbab Amir and Khayal Zaman. In the meeting, issues of relevant circles and ongoing development projects were discussed.

Lady MPs also met PM Imran Khan and the meeting was attended by Senator Seemee Ezdi, Members of National Assembly Andleeb Abbas, Shanila Roth, Nusrat Wahid and Ghazala Saifi, matters related to the budget were discussed. Federal Minister for Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema and Monis Elahi of PML-Q called on Premier Imran Khan here and the two sides discussed the positive results of the budget relief measures for the common man and especially the lifting of the backward class out of poverty and increasing employment opportunities from economic growth through development projects. Further progress on ongoing projects of the Housing Ministry was also discussed.
