Young doctors, paramedics, nurses, clerks and janitors of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) held a protest demonstration at OPD building against privatisation of 669 health facilities in 10 districts of Punjab.
The protesters, holding protest on the call of Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, vowed to continue their struggle till the withdrawal of policy of privatisation of health facilities in Punjab. The patients of PIC were the worst sufferers as there was virtually complete strike in the hospital.
The young doctors condemned the victimisation of PG trainees of Mayo Hospital by the government and the Vice Chancellor of KEMU, and demanded of the government to do justice in the matter. They urged the government to fulfill in-camera commitment of pay raise of doctors in the province.
Meanwhile, YDA, Punjab president Dr Ajmal Ch, condemned the government over delay in action against hooligan attendants, who tortured doctors of Services Hospital over alleged delayed treatment to a child.
