GUJRANWALA: Gujranwala Division Commissioner Khawaja Shumail Ahmad has asked the Ulema of various sects to play their role in maintaining religious harmony and peace in the division in Muharram.
He said this while addressing the Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen Conference held at the District Council Hall here on Sunday.
Gujranwala RPO Waqas Nazir, DCO Amir Jaan, Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen Punjab Coordinator Mufti Intikhab Ahmed, religious leaders from different schools of thought including Pir Syed Usman Noori, Maulana Ishaq Saqi, Syed Akhtar Bukhari, Qari Saleem Zahid, Maulana Abdul Aziz Chishti, Syed Khalilur Rehman, Prof Saeed Ahmed, Qari Ayub Safdar and others also participated in the conference. The commissioner stressed the need of forging unity and working for the development of the country and urged for promoting interfaith harmony to establish lasting peace. He said that the Ulema had played a pivotal role for establishment of peace and promotion of interfaith harmony in the region. The commissioner urged the followers of different sects to forge unity to foil the conspiracies being hatched against them by anti-Islamic forces. Ittehad Bainul Muslimeen Punjab Coordinator Mufti Intikhab Ahmed said that the Islam was a religion of peace, tolerance and brotherhood and in the light of principles of Islam we should make joint efforts to eliminate terrorism from the region and restore sustainable peace.
