Knowledge economy
I refer to the letter, ‘Necessary checks' (April 25) by Abdul Majeed. I would like to further comment that a knowledge-based economy is the need of the hour. I would request Dr Atta- ur- Rahman who heads the task force on knowledge economy to involve the HEC and VCs of universities to carry out a feasibility study in order to decrease the actual time required on feasibility studies. One can question why surgical masks were imported when we have the potential of making them.
Then comes the question of research, which Pakistan lacks badly. Covid-19 has also forced us to expedite tangible growth in our economy. This issue must also be discussed in NC&OC so all impediments can be addressed in the shortest possible time.
