COVID-19: Volunteers launch Expo Centre’s field isolation centre in Karachi
KARACHI: The volunteers who enlisted their services to the Sindh government to do the campaign against the Coronavirus epidemic in the province on Thursday inaugurated the 1200-beded Field Isolation Centre established at the Expo Centre Karachi.
The inauguration was performed in the presence of Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Corps Commander Karachi Lt General Humayun Aziz, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal, Pechuho, and other senior officials.
Later on, Sindh Governor inspected the facility of the field isolation centre and appreciated the availability of the necessary equipment and medicines there.
He announced on the occasion donation of 5,000 protective suits for the personnel doing treatment of the Coronavirus patients.
It is worth mentioning here that the federal and Sindh governments had played an important role in provision of the necessary funds, medicines, and equipment, and a reverse-osmosis water filtration plant for the field isolation facility.
The facility will be used only for accommodating the verified cases of Coronavirus. The Pakistan Army provided all out support to the government for establishing the field isolation facility. The facility will provide a general isolation ward and an intensive care unit for treating the Coronavirus patients as it is going to provide state-of-the-art services to treat the cases of the viral epidemic.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh governor said the reason that the volunteers had been chosen to inaugurate the field isolation facility was to eulogise the spirit of volunteerism to do the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic.
He said that the health care professionals and volunteers had been at the forefront of the global campaign being waged against the viral disease. He said that the spirit shown by the Pakistan Army to do the fight against the viral epidemic was also praiseworthy.
He said that the Federal, provincial governments, Pakistan Army, and National Disaster Management Authority, had been working with excellent coordination with each other to collectively do the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic.
Sindh governor said that the federal government had the fullest resolve and using its maximum resources to do the nationwide struggle against the Coronavirus epidemic.
He urged the charities and philanthropists to come forward and donate so that the field isolation centre would remain functional for a long time to come.
The governor said that the field isolation facility had been established while following the safety guidelines of the World Health Organization against the spread of the Coronavirus. The patients to be admitted at the facility would get the video calling facility to get in touch with the people in the outside world.
There would be separate passages for the entry of the doctors and para-medical staff at the isolation facility.
Sindh governor said that he was satisfied with the necessary facilities available at the Expo Centre’s field isolation facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho said that the Sindh government would continue to provide utmost support for the functioning of the field isolation facility as like it had provided assistance to establish the facility.
GOVERNOR MEETS DG RANGERS: Meanwhile, Sindh Governor also on Thursday met Director General Sindh Rangers Major Omar Ahmed Bukhari at Sindh Governor House.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh governor appreciated the services of the Sindh Rangers in enforcing the lockdown regime in the province against the spread of COVID-19 as vigilant rangers had provided tireless services for the purpose.
He said that the law-enforcers present in the field and manning various checkpoints on the roads had been doing vital duties as part of the nationwide campaign being against the Coronavirus epidemic.
The DG of Sindh Rangers on the occasion said that the para-military force would fully act upon the orders of the government in furthering the campaign against the viral disease.
