HARIPUR: The district administration was fully prepared to combating the corona pandemic with available resources, an official said on Thursday.
“On the directives of provincial government, the rapid response teams of health department have been formed and the team members were busy screening and sample collection of suspects,” Deputy Commissioner Haripur Nadeem Nasir told a press conference here.
He said that 13 quarantine centres and two isolation centres were functional and fully equipped with required bedding and equipment. The DC claimed that quarantine centres and isolation centres have the capacity to accommodate 1000 patients. “All the four positive patients and 42 suspects were quarantined at their homes as their condition is stable,” he added.
To the question of shortage of ventilators in Haripur, he said that government hospitals have six ventilators while 14 were arranged from private facilities. The DC said that all the four positive cases had travel history. He said that there were 2354 expatriates who entered the district before the government slapped ban on international flights and the local health authorities traced and screened 2100 of them while rest of them were being approached.
