PMG visits GPO Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi : Postmaster General (Northern Punjab) Abdur Razzaq has said that Pakistan Post has started paying the pension to more than 1.3 million military pensioners and family pensioners at their doorstep through their operational staff, which will be completed within the stipulated time, says a press release.
All other postal services are also running as usual. Staff should strictly comply with government and departmental instructions for their safety. Special measures have been taken to boost Western Union and international remittances payments.
He stated this while talking during his visit to the Rawalpindi GPO after reviewing the security arrangements for employees and customers besides providing services in the situation of corona epidemic.
Chief Postmaster Azhar Iqbal gave a briefing on operational arrangements. The Postmaster General said that in the interest of the old age pensioners and families pensioners during the prevailing situation of Corona epidemic in the country, the government decided to pay their pension at doorstep so that their lives could be saved. He said that special teams constituted for pension payments across the country, including the Circle, were extremely happy to carry out their duties despite the rains in remote villages and towns.
The move was widely praised by the public. Because most of the mandatory service departments nowadays minimise or suspended direct public dealing to protect their employees from the risks of the coronavirus, as well as allow employees aged 50 and over to sit homes but Pakistan Post is a step ahead of its service to introduce such facility nowadays. He said that due to the lockdown, the payments of Western Union and other international remittance payments through Pakistan Post has increased so it should be taken care not to queue any counters in case of Rush and all safety rules should be given to the users. All the customers to be seated according to safety measures.
