LAHORE:The district government has established three quarantine centres in the provincial metropolis and arrangements for isolating suspected patients of coronavirus for 14 days are being done on a war footing.
Officials said these centres were established at Nishtar Town Sports Complex and hostels of UET and Punjab University at Kala Shah Kaku. They said special teams were also constituted to carry out spray and cleanliness in the city where needed.
On Wednesday, a team of district government raided Comsat University where admission office was found open. The team closed down the office and registered a case against the workers while another team raided Gulfarin Nursing College, which was open. A case was also registered against the administration of nursing college.
Lahore DC directed all assistant commissioners for checking violations of Section 144 across the provincial capital. He also directed the magistrates to visit fruits and vegetables markets of the city and ensure proper supply as well as monitoring of hand-washing setup.
Teams of district government also visited all bus and wagon terminals in the city and checked arrangements of hand-washing and other anti-corona spreading arrangements. The teams visited tuition centres in the city.
masks, sanitisers distributed: Lahore Police distributed more than 5,000 face masks and 2,500 sanitisers among police officials as precautionary measures against coronavirus. The masks and sanitisers were distributed among employees of different offices of Lahore Police, all police stations and pickets.
SSP Operations Lahore Muhammad Naveed also distributed masks and sanitisers among the staff of different branches of DIG office, Lahore. The facility of sanitisers has also been provided to the employees of DIG Operations office at the entry gate as well for citizens and complainants visiting thieoffice.
DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed said that awareness was being created among different units of Lahore Police on a regular basis through seminars and workshops.
He said that the directions regarding precautionary measures had also been displayed at different offices, police stations and Khidmat Marakiz.
Rai Babar Saeed said that face masks and sanitisers were being distributed among the police personnel on priority basis who deal with public at front desks, police pickets, Muharrar Rooms and other public dealing sections.
LWMC: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has strictly directed all staffers to take maximum preventive measures against pandemic coronavirus. It was stated that all employees must wear facemasks and keep their hands clean. On the directions of the LWMC managing director, dispensers of hand washing liquid have been placed in all washrooms of the Metro Bus Service stations.
The directions for preventive measures to both international contractors were also issued by the LWMC that all employees of LWMC contractors must take precautionary measures against coronavirus.
The LWMC chairman directed that any worker or officer found not wearing mask would be fined. The LWMC MD said the department was strictly following the preventive measures strategy against coronavirus. A spokesperson for LWMC said citizens could play an important role in defeating the virus by keeping Lahore and themselves clean.
