FIR filed against mills directors for hooliganism

KARACHI: An FIR has been lodged by Board Director Suleman Lalani for unprecedented hooliganism and threat to his life by directors in the Board of Directors Meeting of Al-Abbas Sugar Mills Limited at a local hotel.
According to the FIR, Board of Directors meeting of Al-Abbas Sugar Mills Limited (AASML) was held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at a local hotel in Karachi at which following person were present: Muhammad Iqbal Usman - Chairman, Asim Ghani - Executive Director, Asma Aves Cochinwala - Non-Executive Director, Darakhshan Ghani - Non-Executive Director, Suleman Lalani - Non-Executive Director and Zuhair Abbas - Company Secretary.
During the Board meeting, Lalani was present being a Director whereby Asim Ghani demonstrated highly unprofessional, unwarranted, unethical, immoral and uncivilized behavior and extended threats of life to him and the matter was visually recorded by company secretary.
According to the statement, in the event of any harm caused to Lalani, his family or property/belongings, Asim Ghani and other three directors and the Company Secretary of AASML present at the aforesaid Board meeting should be held responsible keeping in view their actions.
The authorities should also take action to safeguard the evidence of audio/video recording of proceeding of incident. It has been requested for the authorities to look into this matter and take necessary action against Asim Ghani and other companions.
There is also an ongoing case in the Sindh High Court against Asim Ghani, Executive Director and Shunaid Qureshi, Chief Executive Officer of Al Abbas Sugar Mills, regarding misappropriation of company bonus and alleged illegal transfers of funds.
Asim Ghani’s lawyer Shahadat Awan filed an application in the Sindh High Court for quashment of FIR. Howvwer, Suleman Lalani’s counsel Abdul majeed khoso asked for time, on which the honourable judge extended the proceedings till Sept 7.
