GUJRANWALA: Hundreds of residents of Ludhewala Warraich on Saturday staged a demonstration against the local MNA and Qila Didar Singh police.
The protesters chanted slogans against the MNA and the police and said that the Qila Didar Singh police had registered a bogus FIR against some residents of the area allegedly on the pressure of the local MNA. They told that allegations levelled in the FIR were baseless as no person was involved in torturing the TMA officials. They told that the residents of the area only demonstrated against the TMA officials for not making effort to resolve the sewerage problems of the area. They demanded the authorities withdraw the case immediately.
POLICE TORTURE: A medical report has proved that an accused was tortured of by Qila Didar Singh police.
In a petition filed in the court of Magistrate Zameer Hussain, Abdul Rasheed, s/o Muhammad Siddique and a resident of Haider, said that some policemen of Qila Didar Singh police station entered his house and took him in the police station saying that he was involved in drug peddling. He said that the police tortured of him. At this, the magistrate ordered the medical examination of the victim in which police torture was proved.
DACOITY: A dacoity incident was reported here on Saturday.
Seven dacoits set-up a picket in front of the house of Federal Minister Khurram Dastgir house at Satellite Town and looted several passers-by. They snatched gold ornaments, cash, mobile phones and other valuables from them. Jinnah Road police have registered a case and started investigation.
