ISLAMABAD: The dialogue between the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) on new directives regarding TV channels will be held on August 4 in Karachi.
Pemra on the directives of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting on July 30 declared a six-point code of conduct for TV channels. These six-points include broadcast of the national anthem, over 10 percent broadcast of international content, advertisements of more than 12 minutes per hour, Neelam Ghar-like programmes during Ramazan, the broadcast of immoral content and other disputed material.
The Pemra and PBA meeting will hold discussions in detail to devise a consensus on the six-point code of conduct.
Pemra Spokesman Fakhruddin Mughal said that the proposal of raising duration of programmes for children over channels would also be discussed with the PBA as currently only two foreign channels were providing this facility to Pakistani children.
