Train driver averts major tragedy

SUKKUR: Zakariya Express escaped a major tragedy when its brakes failed at the Mehrabpur Railway Station near Sukkur on late Wednesday night. According to the station master of Mehrabpur Railway Station, the Bahauddin Zakariya Express was travelling from Karachi to Multan when the driver of the train realized that the brakes were not working and any collision would be disastrous. He quickly diverted the train to the loop track where it hit the sand dune and stopped without causing any damage. The station master said the driver’s presence of mind saved the train and passengers from a major tragedy.
