MANSEHRA: The Mansehra city and its suburbs have turned into a filth depot as the tehsil government has failed to acquire land for dumpsite.
“We would dump garbage at the offices of tehsil municipal administration if the tehsil government doesn’t dispose of garbage heaps scattered all around in the city within the next 24 hours,” an area resident, Basit Qayyum Khan, told reporters on Sunday.
“The tehsil council, which is having the representation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl should take cleanliness as a serious issue and if land couldn’t be acquired in a hurry, it should adopt temporary measures to address that issue,” he added. Tehsil Nazim Umar Farooq told reporters that he was taking all possible measures to acquire land for dumping ground and soon that issue would be addressed. He added that some of the locals were obstructing the administration’s efforts to acquire land for the garbage site.
