630 illegal structures demolished

Islamabad : The Islamabad administration and Capital Development Authority (CDA) during a joint operation demolished 630 illegal structures in stalled E-12 sector on Friday.

The Islamabad Police which was also present on the occasion, arrested six people for putting up resistance who according to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat will be released later. He said the operation is carried out on the directions of Islamabad High Court which also ordered to clear the area within three weeks otherwise proceedings will be initiated against CDA, ICT and Interior.

Deputy Commissioner and Member Estate both were present on site and led the operation. The E-12 allottees were also on site and highly praised the operation. The lambardar and influential were also on site. Around 500 policemen, 50 Rangers, 250 enforcement staff participated in the operation.

The operation is being halted because of Friday prayer and will continue on daily basis subject to availability of force. The E-12 sector was launched during the year 1989 but of then allottees had passed away or sold out their plot waiting to get possession of plots.
