Training concludes

Islamabad: Inquiry Committee Members of organisations such as Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), State Bank of Pakistan, COMSATS and National Rural Support Program (NRSP) were apprised on the most prevalent global social issue of sexual harassment and Pakistan’s Anti-Sexual Harassment Legislation at a training organised by Mehergarh.

Concluded on Sunday, the three-day residential training that was a comprehensive training specially design to train Standing Inquiry Committee Members and trainers covering the issue of sexual harassment, myths and facts exist in the society for the conceptual clarity of the participants, detail procedures prescribed in the law for effective implementation and handling the cases of sexual harassment which have usually without any evidence and witnesses.

On this occasion, Director Law, FIA Ali Sher Jakhrani, said that it was a great experience to be with a team of learned professionals who are directly and indirectly linked with the implementation of Ant-Sexual Harassment legislation.

Executive Director of Mehergarh Maliha Hussain said that “It’s refreshing to see that more and more organizations are realizing the importance of complying with anti-sexual harassment legislation to provide a dignified work environment for their employees”.

Eminent activist Dr. Fouzia Saeed was invited at the concluding ceremony. Mehergarh launched a song ‘I Was Not Alone (Me Akeli Na Thi)’ sung by Zaib and produced by Black Box Sounds, dedicated to the struggle of Dr. Fouzia on sexual harassment. At the end, certificates and copies Dr. Fouzia Saeed’s Book ‘Working with Sharks: Countering Sexual Harassment in our Lives’ was distributed among the participants.
