KARACHI: Scorers are the cardinal part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) manpower but they are not being provided any facilities during the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) fourth edition which is in progress here at the National Stadium.

This correspondent saw on Sunday the scorers coming on foot after parking their bikes at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Centre premises. They were seen highly deprived unlike umpires and other officials of the Board who are given every kind of facility during the country’s most lucrative domestic event.

The scorers did not even take their dinner on Saturday night during the first game of the Pakistan’s phase between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. They took their meal after reaching home late in the night, it was learnt.

This correspondent has seen that during the lunch or dinner time there is too much rush on the dining table during matches and so the scorers are unable to take their meal during the brief innings break.

This correspondent also learnt that for other officials there are special rooms at the gigantic NSK building but there is no room for scorers. The scorers were seen waiting for long at the media centre for the start of their job which is hectic work.

On the other hand, the umpires and other officials enjoy quality protocol. When this correspondent interacted with some scorers they say that at least they should be treated as officials.

“You see our condition. Umpires and others have been given contracts. But we are working without any contract and feel very insecure,” a scorer told this correspondent.“You know the financial condition of the country is not that good. If we lose our job then what will we do. We have sacrificed our whole life to the field and at least our efforts should be respected,” a scorer said.
