GUJRANWALA: Gunmen and thieves deprived locals of cash, cellphones and valuables in 17 strikes in different areas of Gujranwala on Saturday.
Bandits snatched Rs 15,000 and a cellphone from Aslam in village Dela Chatha and Rs 19,000 from Muhammad Ali at Waris Kot in Ahmed Nagar Chatha police area.
Two gunmen snatched Rs 14,000 and a cellphone form Akbar in village Manzoorabad and a new motorbike from Sajid Buttat on Pasroor Road in Gujranwala Sadar police area.
Robbers snatched Rs 110,000 and a cellphone from Sagheer at Sodhra turn and Rs 9,000 and two mobile phones from Khalil in village Ramgarh in Sodhra police area.
Three bandits snatched Rs 2,000 from Qasim in Emenabad police jurisdiction. Three gunmen snatched Rs 21,000 and a cellphone from Imran in Dhulley police area.
Two robbers snatched Rs 10,000 from Shafiq at Najaf Colony in Gujranwala cantonment police area.
Two dacoits snatched Rs 7,000 from Ismail near Khan CNG filling station in Gajrkah police area.
Three robbers snatched Rs 18,000 and a cellphone from Adnan on Noorkot road in Gakhar police area. Two bandits snatched new motorbike from Ikram near canal in Wahndo police area.
Thieves stole new motorbike of Inamullah from Nizampura in Wazirabad city police area, new motorcycle of Saqib from Lohianwala in Aroop police area, new motorbike of Faisal from Nawab chowk in Gakhar police, motorcycle No STL-241 of Ahmed from Satellite Town market and motorcycle No STG-1793 of Jemshad from village Bhatti Bhango in Gujranwala Sadar police area.
LOADSHEDDING: People, including shopkeepers, have been facing a large number of problems due to unscheduled electricity loadshedding in the city and adjoining areas.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, the people said that the loadshedding had made their lives miserable. They said that the loadshedding was affecting routine activities of life. The shopkeepers said that the loadshedding was affecting their business. The daily-wagers said that the loadshedding was creating financial problems for them. The people criticised the government for its alleged failure to overcome the power crisis in the country. Instead of increasing power generation, the government was increasing power tariff, they added. They said that water supply also remained suspended during the power loadshedding. They also criticised the Gujranwala Electric Power Company for not announcing the shutdown schedule.
