A precipitous fall
February 19, 2019
This refers to the article ‘Economic indicators’ (February 17) by Dr Farrukh Saleem. The writer has lamented the non-implementation of structural reforms to address the challenges faced by the economy. The country’s economy is in a shambles. Even the countries that were economically weaker than us around five to six decades back have raced ahead and made astounding progress. Pakistan’s economic predicament is rooted in its non-economic issues. With problems like a poor leadership, rampant corruption, and an unsatisfactory law and order situation, Pakistan can never be a choice place for foreign investors.
