GUJRANWALA: Locals are facing unprecedented price hike before the announcement of the 2015-16 budget.
Hoarders and profiteers are collecting such items which are likely to be taxed in the budget for example popular brands of cigarettes.
The shopkeepers have started charging Rs 5 to 10 extra on a single packet of cigarettes giving reason they have bought the cigarettes on the black market.
The price hike in medicines has affected almost every section of society and the district administration in this connection seems ignorant of its duties to take notice of the situation. The locals have noticed a rise in the prices of inhalers. They said the price of the inhaler had been increased upto Rs 35 per piece in one month.
The same situation is with the price of homeopathic and herbal medicines.
The locals were of the view that due to inefficiency on the part of the relevant authorities, the locals are suffering and are not finding themselves capable of buying vegetables and fruit due to uncontrolled price hike.
