Our country is becoming a graveyard for minorities as well as human rights defenders. Religious extremism has become a fashion these days. Being different has become a taboo and risky in Pakistan.
It’s a shame that we are losing people to extremism and militancy but then we are the same people who either silently or vocally support the discourse of extremism, intolerance and violence. Without having our narrative of tolerance and accepting diversity we cannot imagine a peaceful Pakistan. Let us conduct a self-review and find out where we actually stand: with extremism or with peaceful coexistence. Now regardless of which ‘group’ claims responsibility for the despicable and horrific tragedy that happened in Karachi, the government should deal with these elements with an iron hand.
