Punjab University has set a record by obtaining 269 positions in co-curricular competitions organised in 2014 all over Pakistan.
The PU students clinched 109 first positions, 80 second positions, 41 third positions and 39 team trophies which is the highest mark ever hit by any university.
This was revealed in the prize distribution ceremony of interdepartmental competitions winners at Al Raazi Hall on Thursday.
PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dean Faculty of Law Prof Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, Director Students Affairs Shahid Mahmood Gull, Deputy Director Zubair Akram, In charge Institute of Communication Studies Dr Noshina Saleem, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present. The team trophy of interdepartmental competitions was clinched by Institute of Communication Studies.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mujahid Kamran said PU students were full of talent and the record number of positions reflected that students being admitted on co-curricular basis were totally on merit. He congratulated the position holder students on their achievements.
Shahid Mahmood Gull said PU students were ambitious to show their talent and give outstanding performance. He said the purpose of inter-departmental competitions was to encourage students to show their hidden capabilities.
