The Pakistan Joint Action Nursing Committee (PJANC) held a protest outside the Karachi Press Club on Monday against the non-issuance of nursing certificates to male students.
The male nursing students of the School of Nursing Lyari, School of Nursing Liaquatabad, School of Nursing Korangi and other institutions, under the banner of the Pakistan Joint Action Nursing Committee, staged the protest against the non-issuance of their nursing certificates by the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and the Nursing Examination Board for the last several years.
The protesters said they had not been issued with PNC certificates or licences for the last several years due to the late registration of certain institutions and it had stopped them from applying for jobs, resulting in great hardships.
A senior official of the committee said the attitude of the Assistant Director Nursing was non-cooperative. He demanded of the chief minister, health minister and health secretary to release stipends for students and issue PNC certificates to the nursing students.
