College students display projects
LAHORE : An exhibition based on the projects of the BS. Part-II (3rd year) was held at Government College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore from April 19 till April 21.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, the exhibition was inaugurated by the college principal, Prof Dr Ambreen Sagheer, along with Prof (retd) Mrs Neelam Imam, Mrs Durdana Qaiser and the heads of various departments. All the five departments: Food and Nutrition, Textile and Clothing, Art and Design, Housing, Home Management and Interior Design, Human Development and Family Studies participated in it.
On the third day, Deputy Director Colleges Muhammad Munawar Hussain also visited the college and praised the creativity of the students.
The display by Food and Nutrition Department comprised research-based projects of advance nutrition, applied nutrition and institutional management. The students of postgraduate diploma in dietetics exhibited their projects based on diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Art and Design Department students displayed their projects using such techniques which could be applied in textile, painting, weaving and ceramics. The projects included embroidery, silk painting, digital screen printing and batik. Oil pen and ink were experimented in the form of collage and still life. There was a unique display of Islamic geometric patterns. A variety of painted cushions, scarves and murals were also displayed.
Housing, Home Management and Interior Design displayed renovated, decorative and commercial projects. The students got a chance to display their innovative skills and launched new ideas according to market trends. There was a vast display of mirrors, consoles, jewellery, cupboards, TV trolleys, coffee tables, bookshelves, wall panels, baby cots, tables, etc.
Textile and Clothing Department displayed projects of Shibouri, batik, block-printing and screen printing. Overall, there was a vast variety of apparels and interior projects like living room, dining room, veranda, which were elegantly decorated and caught the attention of the viewers.
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies designed some interesting games and story books to enhance the social skills and moral values. The projects on exceptional children included sound boxe.
Over all, the exhibition was a display of the yearlong hard work of both students and teachers. It was visited and appreciated by many.
