SARGODHA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Saturday arrested the Darya Khan assistant commission for embezzling Rs 14.01 million.
The ACE authorities said that a company had purchased property from a sugar mill in 2015. The company in collusion with the assistant commissioner and the then sub-registrar Sajid Safdar had embezzled Rs 14.01 million by transferring fee after showing low value of the property, thus causing a loss to national exchequer.
ACE Director Asim Raza had constituted a four-member investigation team comprising Deputy Director (Investigation) Uroojul Hassan, Deputy Director Legal Gull Muhammad, Assistant Director Muhammad Khurram Anwar and Circle Officer Headquarters Asmatullah Bandial. During the inquiry, it was proved that the assistant commissioner and the then sub-registrar Darya Khan had embezzled Rs 14.01 million.
The ACE team headed by Circle Officer Asmatullah Bandial conducted a raid and arrested Assistant Commissioner Sajid Safdar. The accused was shifted to the district jail.
