The crowd that had gathered for the second Pakistan Super League playoff at the Qaddafi Stadium, on Tuesday, danced and cheered as our favourite sport got a new lease of life. There was happiness and peace in the otherwise gloomy streets of Lahore. It was indeed a treat to see foreign cricketers visiting the city’s historical locations.
The Pakistan Cricket Board slowly but surely revived cricket. They are now also vying to hold all PSL matches in Pakistan in the coming years. Their efforts have not only revived a sport Pakistanis considered close to their hearts, but have also exhibited the good side of the country. These matches will tell the world how pleasant Pakistan is. There were many hitches and many glitches but one person stood against all odds and managed to breathe life into cricket. I would especially want to give credit to Najam Sethi, without whose efforts none of this would have been possible.
