Protest continues for power supply
CHITRAL: The protest sit-in to demand provision of electricity to the surrounding villages from the Golen Gol Hydropower project continued for the second consecutive day here on Monday.The residents of Ayun, Broz and other villages were staging a sit-in for provision of power to their native areas from the recently inaugurated project at Goldeh.District Nazim Maghfirat Shah visited the sit-in and expressed solidarity with the participants. He criticised the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), saying the authority was wasting 20 megawatt electricity but was not ready to give it to the locals for domestic use. A former member national assembly Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali and others also visited and addressed the sit-in. The participants warned of blocking the roads leading to Broz and Gehoriat for traffic if their demands were not met.
