3 ghee mills sealed, owners booked

GUJRANWALA: The assistant commissioners Sadr and City Thursday launched a drive against profiteers and to ensure essential items’ fixed prices.
AC Sadr Arifullah Awan accompanied by EDO (Agriculture) raided two ghee mills to check quality of cooking oil and prices. He sealed both the mills and asked the Emenabad police station to register cases. He directed the mill owners to furnish detail of sales and purchases.
AC Attique Rehman also inspected a ghee mills and sealed it over rules violation and booked the owner and accountant.
He then raided ghee stockiest shop of Sheikh Yasin at Dal Bazaar and booked employees Farooq and Abu Bakar for violating rates rules.
Reportedly, pressure of Anjuman-e-Tajran president Babar M Kheerana was ignored in this regard.
The AC on the summary trial sentenced the accused to imprisonment for 10 days and Rs 50,000 fine each and sent them to jail.
They will further serve jail term for another 10 days if fine remained unpaid.
Meanwhile, Ghee dealers and retailers Thursday staged a protest outside the DCO office against raids on ghee mills and closed their shops.
They raised slogans against the district administration and condemned the arrest of ghee mills owners and registration of cases against them.
They demanded re-fixation of prices with more margin for them.
PROVISION OF HEALTH FACILITIES: DCO Azmat Mahmood Thursday issued multiple directions to health department officials for smart monitoring to ensure provision of health facilities to common man.
Addressing a meeting of smart monitoring of health officials, the DCO said the government had allowed multiple facilities to the people.
He ordered supply of medicines at basic health centres and asked to fill vacant seats without any delay in BHUs.
