Attestation issues

January 23, 2018

This is to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to an important matter. Two months back, I sent my education certificates to the HEC for attestation. I have recently got my documents back with a note from the HEC in which it has stated that my Master’s degree cannot be attested on the basis that it was awarded through distance learning mode. The degree in question was awarded to me by Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan. It is strange that the HEC has rejected to attest the degree which was issued by a well known public university.

Many of my classmates are working as lecturers at various public universities, while some are working at the Punjab School Education Department. All of these people have been able to secure a job on the basis of their degrees awarded by BZU through its distance learning programme. If a candidate who has the distance learning programme degree can get a job in Pakistan, why are these degrees rejected for attestation? Additionally, if the HEC doesn’t recognise this degree, why is BZU still running this programme? Why are the authorities not doing anything about it?
