HANGU: District Nazim Mufti Obaidullah declared appointment of 63 low-paid employees in the Education Department as illegal, official sources said here on Sunday.
They said District Education Officer (DEO) had appointed 63 class-IV workers. Of them, 25 percent were appointed against the wards quota of the retired employees, three percent against minority and two percent were given jobs against the physically challenged persons’ category.
However, district nazim declared all appointments illegal. He later issued directives for the cancellation of the appointments.
The nazim said the officials of Education Department had been suspended under the Local Government Act. But despite suspension, they issued notification of the appointment of class-IV employees, he added.
When contacted, DEO Muhammad Shaukat said the appointments had been made on merit. He believed that nazim’s action would hamper promotion of 56 senior teachers, 76 employees of the Basic Pay Scale-14, 138 employees of BPS-12 and 35 junior clerks.
