Art exhibition opens

An exhibition of arts, crafts and antiques began here on Thursday under Mehmil Gallery Gulberg at Studio-O. Master pieces made of wood, metal and other antiques were displayed in the exhibition.

The participants expressed their gratitude and admired Mehmil Gallery management for their efforts to promote art. The three-day long exhibition will continue till January 20 at Studio-O, Muratab Ali Road.

Mansoor Zubairi, one of the most prominent and renowned sculptors and artists, has specially flown into the provincial capital to view Shoaib Bin Aziz’s splendid collection of artifacts and crafts collected and reshaped according to our cultural environment. According to Zubairi, this show of Pakistani and foreign artist’ brilliance was a grand event in the world of art and highly appreciable and innovative initiative taken by Shoaib BIN Aziz, the poet, the artist, art collector and art lover. Salima Hashmi, eminent artist and teacher, said Lahore is the beloved city. It is beloved city because it gives rise to ideas, new ones, but it also transforms old ideas. From times in memorial, it has nurtured great people, great craftsman, great thinkers, great makers of beautiful things, who continue until a day in the form, many forms to give us joy today. Newest venture called “MEHMIL” reflects this long rooted desire for human beings to excel in the making of things, she said.

RM Naeem, one of the leading Pakistani painter and a teacher at NCA, was of the view that this show was not only a breath of fresh air the prevailing suffocating and oppressive environment being experienced by us all but also a great innovative contribution in the world of Pakistani art and a new trend. Eminent personalities like Mustansar Hussain Tarar, Nair Ali Dada, RM Naeem, Abdul Jabar Gull, Irfan Gull and art lovers in big number were also present on the occasion.
